Currently occupied by Morocco but actively fighting for independence. I would expect that these albums will be helping that fight by bringing the plight of the country to a wider audience.

According to Jamie Renton of Froots the album is the rawest, dirtiest slice of blues he has heard in quite a while. Sounds like a pretty good description to me. Three CD's and a 124 page book make up this set of Saharawi music, published by the Spanish label Nubenegra. The producers travelled to the Sahrawi refugee camps and spent 14 days with the artists to record CDs 1 & 2 of the compilation, with the aim of recording the finest musicians and singers of traditional Sahrawi music from the past and present. CD 1, entitled A Pesar De Las Heridas (Despite All Wounds) features Sahrawi women such as Mariem Hassan and Aziza Brahim singing Haul songs. On CD 2, entitled Sahara Mi Tierra (Sahara My Land), the lyrics are mostly interpreted by men, including guitarist Nayim Alal and Mahfoud Aliyen. CD 3, entitled Polisario Vencerá (Polisario Will Win), is a re-edition of a 1982 album by the Sahrawi band Chahid El Uali, which included such singers as Mariem Hassan, Teita Leibid, Mahfoud Aliyen and Hadhoum Abeid.
