CHARLIS SAMSON ADANDE ALLELUIYA CEL6748 12in £ 12.00
When I originally got this album back in the late 80's there was nothing on the sleeve but I was told that he was from Cameroon. However it now seems that dancer-acrobat, guitarist and singer and former member of the National Ballet of Benin actually comes from Benin. Released in 1985 and sadly the only album attributited to him. It really does go like a bomb with an explosive brass line up, Yoruba percussion and rock guitar lines it is not to be missed. The title track was included in the compilation released by Celluloid in 1997, Celluloid Instrumental music. Record and sleeve condition as NEW. ( Free download of track 1 available as .wav or .mp3 files on request ) 1. ALLELUIYA (4'24)

KIRI KANTA CONTRAT ABENI VA016 CD £ 12.00
Aina Sanni Dim Aissatou was born in Parakou in northern Benin. Where she worked they had a band, the Ibetex Ambassadors Orchestra which she joined and sang with under the name Kiri Kanta between 1978 and 1981. By 1989 she was singing with the National Orchestra of Niger. Then a year later, she moved to Togo and collaborated with Afia Mala ( Telescopie ) then the next year in Benin she recorded her first album, Ignin Mindassan exploring the musical heritage of Benin. She played in the Ouidah Festival in 1992 which then led her to an international tour and to this her second album released the same year. The following year she performed with Papa Wemba and Toumani Diabate. Her third and more traditional album Simbori 2000 came next followed in 2013 by a compilation album Sourou. 1. CONTRAT ABENI

STANISLAS TOHON ET LE TCHINK SYSTEM ZEMIDJAN ACC001 TC £ 10.00
I didn't recognise the style of music at all and without the notes from EMI I was at a loss to tell you much about him except that his full name is Stanislas Roger Tohon and he was born in Abomey in 1955 and died in Paris in 2019. What I can tell you is that this album was released back in 1992 ( a year after the Paris made LP) and is bleeding fantastic. A modern album definitely and by an artist who's going to go far. The title track's got a bit of Rap the others have something of everything from Hommage a Franco's guitar masterpiece to Neva with it's pouring water and heavy metal guitar. This album's even got a cigarette smoking gourd with a cap and specks that plays guitar on the cover!!!!! This guy and his band are just smashing. This album has joined my list of favorites on the first listening. Between the 60's and 2000's he released at least 27 albums. Have a listen for Awa Maiga and Diane Solo in the chorus. It would also seem that nobody out there on the web knows that it was even released on cassette so a pretty rare item.
